![]() Sugoi Lakes Lodge When most folks think of Texas, they have mental images of big-time cattle ranching and the Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleaders. Well partner, Texas also boasts some great bass fishing in its lakes and ponds…ponds that in some cases hold incredible populations of trophy-class largemouth bass. When Gary Yamamoto left behind the red rock and deep canyon reservoirs of the Southwest for the fertile lakes and ponds of East Texas, it was big bass that he had in mind. He likes to get personally involved in every project, and it was no different at his Sugoi Lakes Lodge. Yamamoto spent a great deal of hands-on time, overseeing the construction of the resort and its trophy fishery, seeing to every detail. The main lodge sits comfortably nestled in a lush grove of trees, overlooking the two lakes. Just over an hour’s drive from the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, the Resort sits on 58 very private acres. Sugoi is the Japanese word for "perfect". Whether you seek trophy bass or a private and relaxing getaway, after a visit to the Lodge, we think you’ll agree that it is, in a word, perfect. |

A quick glance shows that the Sugoi Lakes are far from simple ponds – each pond was carefully constructed to provide the maximum in big fish habitat. Regardless of the season, prime structure and planted cover play host to the active Florida-strain largemouth bass. Ten-pounders are not uncommon, and the wise angler will gear up accordingly. |
| Guests enjoy the spacious log cabin layout, which features four twin bedrooms on the first floor, two on the second floor. Each bedroom offers two queen beds, cable television, individual programmable climate control, and its own private shower and restroom. First floor rooms have private entrances to the walkabout porch, and inside access to the great room. | ![]() |

The boathouse awaits the fishermen, a short stroll below lodge level, and a small fleet of battery-powered bass boats stands fully charged and ready. Whether for an hour or a day, the stable craft will comfortably accommodate one fisherman, or a pair. |
Both the great room and the walkabout porch offer a full view of the Resort’s two lakes, and all the fishing fun, whether from boat or bank. |

The cantilevered construction of the mid-lake pagoda provides visitors to its seating nook an unobstructed view. The pagoda is a perfect destination for a late-night stroll, or for one seeking a moment of daytime solitude with a good book. |
The community area in the great room offers comfortable areas for lounging, relaxing in front of the wide-screen entertainment center, dining, socializing or just a quick snack on the way to the fishing hole. Yamamoto designed Sugoi Lakes Lodge to provide not only for an outstanding fishing experience, but also as a place to unwind and enjoy the company of good friends and family. |
